Who we are
MICGameBox is a website of free browser games. In this page, “we” means the team that runs MICGameBox. You can reach us any time through the contact page.
What we collect
- Your account. If you sign up, we store your email address, nickname, password (only in hashed form) and your settings, such as notification preferences.
- Your activity. When you are signed in, we keep your last 50 played games, your favourites, ratings and comments so your player profile works. Comments also record the IP address they were sent from, to fight spam.
- Play statistics. When a game is played, we record which game, when it started and finished, how long it was actively played and the page language, together with a random session ID. We keep these raw records for 7 days; after that only daily totals per game remain, which cannot be traced back to you.
- Game submissions. The developer name, contact email and game link you send us.
- Messages. The name, email address and message you send through the contact form. We delete them after 12 months.
- Abuse protection. To limit repeated sign-up, sign-in and form attempts, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for up to one hour.
We do not sell your personal data.
Cookies and local storage
Cookies that the site needs to work are always on. Everything else follows your choice in Cookie settings, which you can open from the bottom of every page.
- gb_consent, gb_cv: remember your cookie choice, for 13 months. We also keep an anonymous log of choices (time, policy version, choices and region), without your IP address or account.
- WordPress sign-in cookies: keep you signed in, until you sign out or the sign-in period ends.
- gb_sid: the random session ID for play statistics. Deleted when you close your browser.
- gb_rp: used only while you reset your password. Deleted when you close your browser.
- Favourites and best scores without an account are stored only in your browser, and only if you allow functional cookies.
- Analytics: if you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics to understand how pages perform. If you don’t, no analytics cookies are set.
- Advertising: we show ads from Google AdSense. Ad code only loads after you allow advertising in Cookie settings (in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, through Google’s consent message). Google and its partners then use cookies to show ads, and, only if you also allow personalised ads, to choose them based on your visits to this and other websites. Pages for games suitable for younger players only show non-personalised ads. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services; you can also manage Google ad personalisation at Google Ads Settings.
Third-party games
Games are made by independent developers and game platforms, and run in an embedded frame served by them. A game only loads once you choose to play it. Its provider may collect data or set cookies under its own privacy policy, which we don’t control. The developer and the original link are shown on every game page.
Your choices and rights
- Change your cookie choices any time in Cookie settings.
- Download your data or delete your account in Account settings. Deletion takes effect after a short cooling-off period; signing in again during that time cancels it.
- For anything else, such as seeing, correcting or deleting your data, write to us through the contact page.
Content and copyright
MICGameBox’s page design, text and original content are protected by copyright. Rights to each game belong to its developer or rights holder. If you believe something on the site infringes your rights, tell us through the contact page and we will look into it promptly.
Your comments
You keep the rights to what you write; by posting, you allow us to show it on MICGameBox. Keep it about the game: we may remove comments that break the community rules. If you delete your account, your comments are either removed or kept without your name, as shown when you delete.
Daily game votes
To count one “Game of the day” vote per visitor per day without an account, we keep a one-way hash of your IP address for 24 hours. If you are signed in, your vote and check-in streak are stored with your account. Without an account, your streak is kept only in your browser, and only if you allow functional cookies.
Children’s privacy
MICGameBox is a general-audience site. Player accounts are not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Pages of games suitable for younger players only show non-personalised ads. If you are a parent and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us through the contact page and we will delete it.
Privacy rights for US residents
We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies set by Google may count as “sharing” for targeted advertising under some US state laws (for example California). You can opt out at any time with the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the bottom of every page, or by turning off personalised ads in Cookie settings. We also treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as an opt-out. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data through the contact page; we will not treat you differently for doing so.
Terms of use
- MICGameBox is free to use. Games and features are provided “as is”; games come from third parties and may change or be removed at any time.
- Please don’t disrupt the site or other players: no spam, cheating on challenges or rankings, automated scraping, attempts to break security, or content that is illegal, hateful or harassing.
- We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules or the community rules.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses from using the site or the games on it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.
Copyright complaints (DMCA)
If you own the rights to a game or other content on MICGameBox and want it removed, send a notice through the contact page that includes: the work you own; the exact page address on our site; your name, postal address, phone and email; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are the owner or authorised to act for them, with your physical or electronic signature.
We will remove or disable the content promptly and, where possible, tell whoever provided it. If you think something was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice with the same contact details, the removed address, a statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake, and your consent to the jurisdiction of your local federal court (or, outside the US, any court where we are located). We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
Changes to this page
When we change this page, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, we will ask for your consent again where it is needed.
